Meet the Midwives
Kootenay Born Midwifery is a supported solo practice. Michelle is grateful that Tay supports her to have time off call every month. We both look forward to getting to know you.

Since 2013, I have had the pleasure of working and living in this wonderful community. I am honoured and humbled to live and work on the unceded and ancestrail lands of the Sinixt tum'xula7xw and Ktunaxa Ksanka and Secwépemc nations.
My inspiration to become a midwife started to grow as a teenager. My dream came true when I graduated in 2006 from the francophone Midwifery Program at Laurentian University. Over the past 20 years, I have learned so much from the people I have worked with and the diverse families I have served across the lower mainland and the Kootenays. I believe that midwives help empower birthing families with kind and compassionate care. I am deeply committed to providing you with personal, holistic and evidence-based care as your family grows.
I am blessed with two beautiful children who were born with the help of caring midwives. I speak English and French fluently as well as conversational Spanish. In my down time, you can often find me on my bike or skis, in my garden, or on Kootenay Lake soaking up these beautiful mountains.

I am so thrilled to be working alongside Michelle at Kootenay Born Midwifery. I grew up in Castlegar and completed midwifery training in Nelson, so I feel a deep connection to the Kootenays. It is very meaningful for me to be back in Nelson providing midwifery care!
Growing up with parents who were both healthcare providers exposed me to the unique experience and importance of healthcare in small communities. Some of my earliest memories are of tagging along with my mum as she completed home visits for her clients as a Lactation Consultant and Public Health Nurse in this community. Even at a young age, I could appreciate how special it was to be able to access care right from your home.
Before studying midwifery at UBC, I completed a degree in Geography at McGill University focusing on topics of health and environment. I am really fascinated by all the amazing changes and transitions that occur during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, and this, along with the strong connections midwives are able to build with their clients lead me to pursue this fulfilling career.
I also enjoy cooking from scratch, gardening, cross country skiing, hiking and camping.
I’m so looking forward to meeting and caring for the families that come through this clinic!
